OIC Secretary General: Recognizing the establishment of Palestinian State

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (formerly the Organization of Islamic Countries / OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu held a number of bilateral meetings during the second day of the 38th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of OIC member in Astana, Kazakhstan, and invite the international community to give recognition of Palestinian state .
The meeting, conducted among others by the head of delegation of OIC members and nonmembers, such as Morocco, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Somalia, and Kyrgyzstan, in addition to Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd, Baroness Warsi Sayeda from the UK, and U.S. special envoy to OIC Rashad Hussein.
"The bilateral talks are focused on supporting the OIC program and mobilize support for the recognition of a Palestinian state in the UN General Assembly in September," Ihsanoglu said in Astana on Thursday (06/30/2011).
Other talks conducted to enhance bilateral cooperation between the OIC and the respective countries. Session of the 38th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers which opened on June 28, 2011 in Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will be closed today.
38th meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) began in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, on Tuesday (06/28/2011) morning, with the participation of Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
Representatives from several Arab countries, African countries and Asia in an opening speech calling for unity among the OIC member countries in solving the problems that plague the Islamic world and Muslim communities.
