"Russia's Ambitious Conquer Other Planet "

MOSCOW- While praising Yuri Gagarin's flight into space 50 years ago and called the event "symbolic" and "revolutionary", Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia is still a dream of "conquering" other planets and flown to the stars a far-away star.
In an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), Tuesday (12 / 4), Medvedev said the first flight into space with human crews will still be a milestone in the history of mankind.
"I'm sure the event is truly a revolutionary event, very symbolic. (Event) it is a terrific achievement by the Soviet cosmonaut who divide the world into the 'before' and 'after' flights called 'space age' , "Medvedev said.
"I am proud because I am who set his country first step," said Medvedev.
Regarding the space program in the future, Medvedev said, although Russia is not too idealistic and more pragmatic, the Russian space dream alive.
"In the past, there is a lot of idealistic views about this. Now, our efforts in space research have become more pragmatic. We do a lot of experimenting and trying to apply new technologies in space," said Medvedev.
However, Medvedev said that Russia still had the dream to be able to reach another world.
"But we still have a hope that someday we will be able to conquer other planets, other astronomical systems," said Medvedev.
"I do not know how quickly we were able to reach it, but I think mankind will always try to follow these two approaches simultaneously. On the one hand, the dream of exploring outer space, and on the other a pragmatic approach to outer space, which may bring benefits practical and science, "said Medvedev.
"I believe this is an important topic, even in our scientific ambitions," said Medvedev. "If we do not do this, we will be far behind."
Medvedev is scheduled to visit outer space mission control center outside Moscow for the first time and gave a speech in front of the cosmonauts on the International Space Station on Tuesday (12 / 4) at 12:40 local time.
Last January, a rocket scientist Boris Chertok said Russia could not carry out its global space program itself and should work together with India and Kazakhstan.
Head of the Space Troops Oleg Ostapenko said last month, Russian scientists are building a drone similar to the Boeing X-37 Orbital Test Vehicle.
