Toyota Prius wins Award for 'Top Safety Pick'

Toyota's flagship hybrid, the Prius, was awarded the prestigious' Top Safety Pick "from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The award was evaluated from the ability of cars that protect occupants during accidents.

After the traffic safety agency (IIHS) conducts a thorough test of the Toyota Prius, hybrid car has the ability to protect occupants during accidents. This may be a combination difficult to surpass the other cars around the world.

Reporting from the official website, the Toyota Prius combines the best fuel efficiency in its class with the ability to protect the passengers when the accident extraordinary to receive the prestigious award.

Award 'Top Safety Pick' only for cars that get the highest score (Good) for each type of crash tests. Value of 'Good' means giving the best protection with the lowest risk of injury.

IIHS dividing the five levels of value, the highest is 'Good', and the lowest 'Poor'. Toyota Prius managed to get the highest score for front crash test, side, rollover, and rear. That's because the Prius is equipped with standard features electronic stability programs to prevent oversteer and understeer.
