Russian Plane Crashes in Highway

Forty people died when a Russian plane crashed on a highway not far from the airport of Petrozavodsk in Karelia, the Russian emergency situations ministry explained on Monday (6/20/2011).
RussAir TU-134 plane carrying 43 passengers and five crew attempted to land on the highway are within two kilometers from the airport.
But the plane crashed and caught fire, Russian media quoted the authorities.
Seen corpses strewn on the highway, the Interfax news agency reported. The plane almost crashed into a house.
Eight of the survivors being treated in hospital. Some of them suffered serious injuries, said emergency situations ministry spokeswoman Irina Andianova told RIA Novosti news agency.
The plane was flying from Moscow to Petrozavodsk, the capital of the Republic of Karelia.
