Toyota Will Production 'Green' Car in China

Despite shortages of components and spare parts, Toyota President Akio Toyoda manufacturer announced plans to build low-emissions cars and components and spare parts in China.

General leader champions Japanese automotive manufacturer that announced in the speech at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2011, that his company will produce environmentally friendly vehicles and component parts in China. "We want to introduce all environmentally friendly technology in China, " he said, as reported by Reuters on Tuesday (19/04/2011).

Currently, Toyota is lagging behind other competitor companies that stepped up sales in China, such as Volkswagen AG. Given the Bamboo Curtain country is currently the world's largest automotive market.

To compete with this, one of the largest manufacturers in the world is going to intensify the production of hybrid cars that will probably catch up in Asia's largest economy. However, in Japan, the production car like the Prius has been hampered because of shortage of supply of components and parts, due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on 11 March.

In this regard Toyota had announced in March last, that it would delay the launch of two new generation of the Prius, by wagon and minivan models, the initial plan which will be launched at the end of next April.
