Russia to sell Aeroflot

Within a maximum period of five years into the future, the Russian government will sell its stake in national airline Aeroflot. "We will speed up privatization," said Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin.
According to Xinhua news on Monday (6/27/2011), Kudrin said that when speaking at the annual investor conference in Moscow. "In addition to Aeroflot, the privatization will be done in the financial sector, petroleum, telecommunications, and transport up to five years ahead," said Kudrin.
He said the privatization would be able to fix the governance. "Privatization also be a channel of investment for development," Kudrin said again.
Last year, the Russian government launched a three-year privatization program to raise fresh 1 trillion rubles, or the equivalent of 35 billion U.S. dollars. At that time, the Russian government off its shares in oil companies and banks.
