Clashed in Hudaida, Yemen, 400 People Injured


Townspeople Hudaida, Yemen, clashed with security forces when officials held a demonstration against violence in the city of Taiz, which killed two people. As a result of this clash, as many as 400 people were reported wounded by live ammunition and tear gas.

Reporting from the pages of The Guardian, Monday, April 4, 2011, thousands thronged the streets of mass Hudaida by doing one of the march towards the presidential residence in Hudaida at two o'clock in the morning. In addition to officers at a demonstration protesting the violence the previous day in the city of Taiz, the mass return also demanded President Ali Abdullah Saleh retreat.

"They suddenly gathered around government buildings and marched towards the presidential palace. But the police stopped them by firing bullets into the air and tear gas," said an unnamed witness.

"I also saw many plainclothes police attacked demonstrators participated," she added.

The report mentions a local hospital, nine gunshot wounds bullets, 350 people suffered shortness of breath due to tear gas, and about 50 others were injured in stone throwing plainclothes police.

Earlier on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at least two people were killed and hundreds were injured in demonstrations against the government in the city of Taiz. This city is one of the base of demonstrators demanding President Saleh who has ruled for 32 years to reverse.

Demontran in this town still looks set up a tent in the center of town, they often become the target of the attack apparatus. The government says the protesters are planning acts of violence.

Previously, Saleh said he would resign as demanded by the demonstrators. However, he was about to fall at the latest by the end of this year. This statement does not satisfy the masses who continue to conduct demonstrations in several major cities of Yemen.

At least 97 demonstrators were killed in various clashes with security forces in Yemen since the start of upheaval February 11 last. The 49 of them were killed in the capital Sanaa a few weeks ago due to a bullet pierced the sniper who was in the roofs of buildings.
